Lattu A traditional Game

  Lattu pahar galy mein jaalii  In Pakistan and India, lattu, or spinning top, is used to play games. This is a traditional Pakistani and Indian game that used to be enjoyed and played by all children, but it is currently losing favor as other interests take precedence. This was once a popular game among children. It is still played in the inner colonies of Karachi, Peshawar, and Lahore, among other cities. For children in Pakistan, lattu is a way of life. History  Thousands of years have passed since the invention of the spinning top. The earliest tops, like many traditional games like marbles, are made of clay and were discovered in the Middle East as early as 3500 BC. It is likely that children were spinning small rocks long before that.  The fact that a wooden top can balance itself on the tip of a nail is stunning.
